The Dowdle Brothers
"Most genre films being made today are remakes, sequels, or are based on some pre-branded material. Some of them are very good, but we think the genre fans really want more originality."

Share with us some films and stories that have been inspirational to you and your filmmaking.

The Shining is our favorite scary movie. And we're huge Twilight Zone fans. Some of our favorites include When the Sky Was Opened, Long Distance Call, Shadow Play, Hitch-hiker, The Last Flight, Nightmare as a Child, and so many others.
What do you hope DEVIL brings to the genre, both as its own movie and as part of a larger series of films?

We feel Devil, and The Night Chronicles as a whole, will help bring back more original concepts to the genre. Most genre films being made today are remakes, sequels, or are based on some pre-branded material. Some of them are very good, but we think the genre fans really want more originality.

We think The Night Chronicles will also be important to genre filmmakers. On Devil, we were given a incredible shot to really push the concept, and Night's involvement gave us a long leash. Others genre filmmakers will soon get to have the same experience and will feel the same contribution to their careers.
You guys have made a couple of horror films now. Talk a little about your connection to the fans of these kind of genre films. What do you hope to share with that audience?

We love the horror audience. They are the most dedicated fans of any medium. They watch everything, their appetite is insatiable. And they're not afraid to let you know what they think. We love that. We're fanboys ourselves so we always feel a level of responsibility to them. Our hope is to continue to put great, original movies into the genre.
